Under 11's Season 2004/2005
Manager Tim Bellars, Assistant Adam Kohlbeck
Player of the Month:
September - Jack Potts, October - Josh Brown, November - Tom Berry, December - Ben Donovan,
January - Jack Bellars
After clinching the title some weeks ago it was important to end the season on a high. Due to the weather this was the first game for over a month. In difficult conditions the home side got off to a great start, when Joe Boutle pounced to slot home at close range from a corner after only three minutes. Nuts then piled on the pressure with great tackling from Tom Paul and probing runs from Harry Curran down the left resulted in the second goal after only ten minutes. A superb cross by Ben Donovan picked out Boutle who popped up again to head the ball, forcing an opposition player to get the last touch before the it crossed the line. A spirited come back from Colts then turned the tables. For what seemed like five minutes Nutfield were penned in their own penalty area and when the ball was failed to be cleared after numerous attempts they conceded a penalty for handball. Although, keeper James Irani got a touch on the ball the pace beat him in a well-struck kick. Not long before half time exquisite interchange play from Josh Brown and Jack Bellars set up the ball for Tom Allen to get a deserved goal. After the break Tom Berry and Jack Potts were added to the attack as Ashstead came out fighting and were unlucky not to get back into the game. Only stubborn defending from Henry Pope, Jordan Kohlbeck and Chris Hussey stopped any attack and when James Irani tipped the ball round the post from a fine effort, the visitors had exhausted any chance of scoring in open play. The final whistle sparked off the celebrations of a fine season with Liam Stack awarded ‘Lad of the Match’ for an outstanding performance.
After a three week break due to the Christmas break and last weeks postponement it was always going to be hard going, especially given that the defensive rock Captain Ben Donovan and goal keeper James Irani were missing. Chris Bailey settled nerves within minutes when he grabbed the first goal of his hatrick with a long range shot that slipped through the legs of the keeper. Minutes later, a poor goal kick was punished as Bailey pounced to double his tally. Jack Bellars then got in on the act with a fine solo effort that started from the half way line and ended in a one on one with the keeper that was tucked into the bottom left corner. Acting Captain Jack Potts finished off a move that started in the home area, Matt Smith coolly played the ball out to Bellars who fed Potts down the left wing and fired the ball into the roof of the net. A more fluent Nutfield now oozed confidence and the next two goals before the interval showed it as Bailey's cross from the right went straight in and Bellars took advantage of another poor goal kick to make it six. After the break a few changes upset the balance of the team but not before Bellars completed his hatrick with a possible goal of the season, chipping the advancing goal keeper. A couple of defensive errors then let the visitors back into the game, the first as Lad of the match Chris Hussey lost the ball on the edge of the area and the second through a goal keeping fumble. Nutfield then had numerous chances but it was left to Tom Berry to finish things off as he slotted home from close range to notch Nutfields one hundredth goal of the season. Notable performances on the day came from Henry Pope, Josh Brown and Liam Stack in his first game.
Nutfield Youth v Woodmansterne 8th January 2005
Game awarded to Nutfield as Woodmansterene could not fulfill the fixture due to illness.
Woodmansterne 0 Nutfield Youth (seventeen) 17 11th December 2004
A valiant Woodmansterne were on the end of Nutfields' biggest ever win. Strangely it took the visitors nearly ten minutes to get on the score sheet. The break through came when Jack Potts put Joe Boutle in will a great cross from the left. The next came from working the right flank with Jack Bellars being provider for Tom Paul. A well worked throw in again from the right gave Josh Brown the chance to set up Chris Bailey for the first of his three. Another outstanding display for the on form Tom Allen bagged a hatrick too the first from a goal mouth scramble. Both Tom Berry and Jack Potts were to get a brace each. Tom Paul scored a lovely header and the game was finished off with two fine solo efforts from Jack Bellars and Ben Donovan. Lad of the Match Jack Potts but great performances from Henry Pope and Tom Paul

Chris Bailey increased his impressive goal tally for the season with another four goals as Nutfield convincingly took all the points. Fetcham to their credit put up a good fight, setting out their stool early ensuring they had plenty of players behind the ball all the time. Given the stubborn resistance, Nuts went into the break three goals to the good with Tom Berry opening the scoring. A change at the back saw Lad of the Match Chris Hussey partner Henry Pope as the pair produced several good clearances ensuring James Irani had a quiet morning and a clean sheet was maintained. Set pieces were to prove a bonus as Jack Bellars delivered the corners, Jack Potts and Ben Donovan were both on hand to convert the resulting goal mouth scrambles and both get on the score sheet. Midfield dynamo Josh Brown deservedly bagged another goal and when Bellars rounded the keeper and coolly slotted home the rout was complete. Other notable performances were from Joe Boutle , Jordan Kohlbeck and Harry Curran.
Ashtead Colts 3
Nutfield Youth 7
30th October 2004
On a less than convincing performance Nutfield came through the victors to go top of the table. In perfect conditions, a slow start saw Chris Bailey's shot parried by the keeper for Tom Berry to poach the first goal. Jack Bellars then had a free kick outside the area but it was blocked by a well disciplined wall. Colts then quickly responded to make it level, as far too often the ball was given away. Bailey was then on hand to score his first of four, as a poor goal kick dropped at his feet and cool finishing started his tally. Again the home side came back with a fine long range lob that left Keeper Josh Brown no chance. Just before the interval Nuts finally started playing football, Tom Paul started a move in the midfield with great passing that ensured the visitors went into the break ahead. Bailey then took full advantage of kicking down hill and slotted home two more goals in quick succession. Jack Potts made the game safe with a glorious strike into the roof of the net. Ben Donovan then pushed into the midfield as Chris Hussey assisted 'Lad of the Match' Henry Pope in defence. Tom Allen also got on the score sheet as reward of fine support play, as he hit home from close range. To their credit Ashtead kept battling and got a consolation goal with minutes remaining.

Wolves 'B' 2
23rd October 2004
In driving rain and high winds Nutfield got back to winning ways with a convincing display that keeps them in contention. Within five minutes Ben Donovan powered home a header from a corner and Lad of the Match Jack Potts doubled the lead with a long range effort that squirmed pass the keeper in the slippery conditions. Both Tom Paul and Tom Allen dominated the midfield and with Henry Pope and Chris Hussey making a solid defence things were all under control. Jack Bellars then scored with a solo effort down the left and completed his brace just before the break when he scored direct from a corner. After the interval, to their credit, Wolves rallied as conditions worsened and when goal keeper Josh Brown was adjudged to have handled the ball outside the area the visitors took full advantage scoring from the resulting freekick. The game was then sealed as Joe Boutle managed to put the ball home after a goal mouth scramble. Tom Berry and Chris Bailey were also unlucky not to have got on the score sheet. With only minutes remaining Wolves put together their best play of the game and scored a great consolation goal after a great build up.
Nutfield Youth 2 Warren Mead 'B' 5 16th October 2004
Nutfield suffered their first defeat in the league this season to fellow title hopefuls Warren Mead. In the opening ten minutes Nuts deservedly took the lead when Joe Boutle headed in from a corner kick. They continued the pressure but when several chances came and went the visitors pounced on a defensive error with a tap in. In the absence of keeper James Irani, Josh Brown kept goal but this left a hole in the midfield. After the break the home side looked jaded and struggled to get back into the game. Jordan Kohlbeck's performance was only piped to the Lad of the Match by Jack Bellars as his efforts kept the side going and was rewarded in the dying minutes when a trademark free kick found its way into the back of the net. Despite the scoreline captain Ben Donovan and Henry Pope both had a good game.

Nutfield Youth 13
Walton Heath 1
25th September 2004
Nutfield continued
their impressive start to the season with a comfortable win over Walton Heath,
putting aside the disappointment of last weeks County Cup exit.
Jack Bellars opened the scoring within five minutes, with a free kick outside the area that was to be the first of his brace. Tom Paul doubled the scoreline with a left foot drive, Jack Potts then poached a goal as Heath's keeper was unable to control an initial shot. At three up Nuts then went to sleep and allowed the visitors to score a fine goal on the counter attack. Nerves were then steadied as Nutfield went into the break seven one to the good but for Walton Heath things got worse as they went down to ten men. A ruthless home side then turned the screw as Keeper James Irani hardly saw the ball. The best goal of the game was a glancing header from Potts at a corner kick. Chris Bailey chalked up an impressive hatrick and Tom Paul his brace. Josh Brown also got on the score sheet with a goal from what seemed an impossible angle. With several notable performances including one of Matt Gilberts best games, Jack Potts final tally of five was unable to match the work rate of the eventual 'Lad of the Match' Captain Ben Donovan.
Under 11's County Cup
Nutfield Youth 4 Coney Hall 6 19th September 2004
A ten goal feast saw Nutfield dumped out of the county cup in the first round, in what was a highly entertaining game played in good spirit. Nutfield had to play the whole game with the bare eleven due to illness but even though the visitors opened the scoring in the first two minutes a great run from Chris Bailey down the right and subsequent cross heaped pressure on the opposition who turned the ball into their own net. Bailey then scored himself with a fine individual effort. Nuts then came under intense pressure and were unlucky to concede as the ball bounced on the uneven surface deceiving keeper James Irani. With only minutes to half time it was important not to concede before the break but another unfortunate turn of events saw Jack Bellars deflect the ball into his own net. Minutes after the restart a wonderful solo effort down the left by Jack Potts put the home side deservedly back in the game. Bellars then put amends to his earlier faux pas, driving a 25 yard free kick into the top corner. Tiredness then began to show especially with Coney Hall bringing on fresh legs and It was not long before they equalised. things looked to be heading for extra time with only five minutes remaining but again fatigue showed giving away a free kick on the edge of the box. this was duly dispatched with an unstoppable drive to the right hand corner. As Nutfield push for the equaliser again they were left exposed at the back and another converted free kick killed off any chance of a come back.
Bookham Colts C 1 Nutfield Youth 3 11th September 2004
A good display on the opening day of the season saw Nutfield take all three points. Ten minutes in Jack Potts opened the scoring after a poor clearance, rounding one player and driving the ball home from the left-hand side. Chris Bailey then squandered numerous chances as Nuts took control of the game. The second came from a Jack Bellars corner which Josh Brown met and tucked away. The best was left until last, in a fine fluent move down the left flank that started in the Nutfield penalty box, Tom Berry rounded several players then unselfishly laid the ball off to Tom Paul who fired the ball home. Bookham started the second half as they had ended the first by applying pressure to the visitors. They were then rewarded when Keeper James Irani spilled a shot, slotting home from close range. Defensive pairing of Ben Donovan and Henry Pope then shut up shop confining play to Bookham half.
